Stress Overload

What is Body Stress?

We are all subject to various kinds of stress in our daily life, and a certain amount is actually necessary for us to function as a human being. BSR addresses 3 main stressors. Some adverse types of stress are quite obvious, such as falls, accidents, bumps and bruises - these are considered mechanical stress. Another major type is emotional stress. Some however, are not so obvious as in toxins we breathe or ingest, or various products we use topically - these are considered chemical stress.

Yet a fourth category is becoming more prevalent as technology advances, and is even more subtle, affecting us at a cellular level - that being electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs). These originate from cell phones and cell towers, microwaves, xrays, alarm clocks - virtually any electrical device will give off a certain amount of EMFs.

 

 

When “normal”stresses, tensions, and strains reach the point of overload, this tension gets stored and locked into the body’s physical structures and becomes “body stress”. Over time, this accumulative progression of body stress exerts pressure on the spinal nerves and may result in pain, muscle weakness, stiffness, distorted posture, or impaired function of organs to name a few effects.

Since our bodies depend on a fully functioning nervous system, it is imperative, and the goal of BSR, to keep stress from affecting it.

When you feel overwhelmed by stress, don’t be brave and try to soldier on through it. When you worry or feel stressed, tension builds in your body, and over time this can create a toxic effect if it’s not released.

WHAT IS BODY STRESS RELEASE?

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY…

The Body Stress Release technique is built on the premise of using the body as highly sophisticated biofeedback system. The practitioner interprets the body’s reflex response to accurately ascertain sites of stored tension and muscle contraction. Once the source of the body stress has been identified, the practitioner performs the release with a series of gentle, and very precise movements that stimulate the nervous system and activate the body’s innate self-healing response.

Please note: While Body Stress Release can complement and work along with standard medical practices, we do not diagnose or treat any specific condition. We simply locate and release lines of stored tension in the body. 

 

PREGNANCY

HELP YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILD

As pregnancy advances, there is increasing tension/stress in the lower back, which is usually referred up into the shoulder blades and neck. Besides relieving theses aches and pains, BSR plays an important role in helping the body prepare itself for the birth by minimizing the compression in the lumbar spine and therefore improved communication in the whole pelvic area.

Body Stress Release is a safe, gentle, and effective way to eliminate tension and stress throughout the term of your pregnancy, and even after delivery, for both you and your baby. Help yourself and your child at the same time by keeping debilitating stress out of the picture.

In my practise, I have a custom designed table that no other practitioner (of any modality) has, with the comfort of expectant mothers in mind, to make them as comfortable as possible during their sessions. My specially designed cushion system takes pressure off the abdominal area.

Most common remarks made by mothers on my table:

“It’s been so long since I’ve been able to lie comfortably on my stomach - this is amazing!”

All pressure is taken off the baby and belly, allowing the mother-to-be to experience the relaxing benefits of the BSR session without any discomfort.

OPTIMISING YOUR SESSION

AIDING THE SELF-HEALING PROCESS

During the course of Body Stress Release care, you can expect to feel physical changes as your body adapts. By practising simple but consistent aftercare you will enable your body to self-heal, to recover more quickly, and maximise the benefits of your BSR session. Putting stress and strain on your body after a session will negate the desired benefits, therefore, rest is optimum. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes that have been made so it’s sensible to adhere to the following:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, sport activities, housework, gym visits, gardening, and long distance journeys

  • Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol

  • Soaking in a hot epsom salt bath will further help to loosen tight muscles

  • Think about your balance and posture. Avoiding carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder or sitting with one leg crossed over the other

  • Follow any other specific advice given you during the session/appointment

BSR CORE PRINCIPLES

As a practitioner of the Body Stress Release technique, here are the core values and principles that I will be utilising at each and every session:

HOLISTIC APPROACH

A comprehensive and holistic approach to release physical, emotional, and chemical stress that is built up in muscle tissue from current or past circumstances, which in turn, creates discomfort and disrupts the body’s innate ability to self-heal. 

GENTLE TECHNIQUE

A gentle, effective, and non-invasive technique specifically designed to unlock stored lines of tension in the body. 

PERSONAL PLAN

Recording your unique health history which will allow me to plan a course of action specific to your concerns, and give you a cause and effect of stressors that you have encountered. I will also keep detailed notes as we go along to track your progress. 

 

NO NEED TO DISROBE

This technique is accomplished with the client fully clothed while laying comfortably on a specially design table.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

BSR recognises that stress build up is cumulative, and therefore to release the different layers, a 3 session process is recommended, with the end goal to create a maintenance mindset to keep stress from once again building up to the overload stage. This will allow each client to enjoy full quality of life. 

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

Initiate an awareness and mindfulness for my client regarding posture and instill hope that BSR can restore health and vitality. 

BSR IS NOT A "MAGIC WAND"

Body Stress Release is a complimentary modality that does not diagnose or treat any condition. We will never suggest or recommend medication. This is not a form of massage or chiropractic. There is no force used or manipulation of skeletal structures. No mechanical apparatus is used – all work is done solely with hand/finger pressure. 

GOOD SIDE EFFECTS

Since BSR is gentle, there will be no long-term side effects, although as the body adapts to the releases at each session, there may be some level(s) of temporary heightened sensitivity as nerve communication begins to be restored.

PRICING: Initial session is £55 which includes discussion of health history, with Q&A, and lasts aprrox. 50 minutes.

Follow up sessions are £45 and run approx. 35 minutes

Payment can be made via credit card, cheque, or bank transfer - £5 discounts available for cash payments.
